In a Harvard Medical School study, people in a dimly lit room made the sleep hormone melatonin 2 hours before bedtime, while those in a brightly lit room didn’t make melatonin until 23 minutes before bedtime.

A group of drugs commonly taken to address allergies, insomnia, motion sickness, or incontinence have been found to significantly increase the risk of memory loss in older adults.
These medicines include Benadryl, Excedrin PM, Unisom, Nytol, Paxil, and Detrol, amongst others.
The medications are anticholinergics, which all decrease the activity of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
